Hi, I've been reading alot on this site's forum ever since I have registered. I noticed on the Nitrite Cycle articles it says that maintaing a ph of more than 7.0 will give you NH3 (toxic ammonia) and vice versa. Since i'm trying to maintain a stable ph at 7.8 which is the same as from my tap water. I do a 50 percent W/C daily so having it at that high ph with NH3 wouldn't be a problem for my discus right? ......Thx..

The pH is 7.8 in my tanks too. You should be just fine with 50% daily water changes as long as you have a prefilter sponge on your intake so feces and uneaten don't collect inside the filter.
