The young discus are less than 1 month old. They show signs of having Gill Flukes. Question: Can I use Formalin for young discus? Or should I use Praziquantel?

Thank you, Patrick (Denver)

Prazi takes longer to work, but is easier on them. Formalin works faster . . .

I think Prazi is more effective right?

Hyde-(Formalin)

There are pros and cons for each. Prazi is expensive and requires a higher dose to treat for flukes than for deworming, but has few side effects and can be administered in the normal tank of residence. Formalin can be a little stressful at larger doses and will affect your biological filtration negatively, but is dirt cheap compared to Prazi. I think people who have a lot of fry on their hands use formalin for financial reasons (not that there is anything wrong with that).
