Spawning/Meth blue

I noticed a lot of posts about using meth blue for spawning discus to prevent fungusing of eggs. My question, is if you are using a ultra-violet sterilizer is the meth blue still necessary?

Sorry for all the newbie questions...lol I'll give you all a break in about a year or two:)
