Well that's just spiffy! I doubt your discus could ask for a better tank to live in. I can't wait to see what it looks like when everything's grown in.

How are you supplimenting/maintaining the tank?

Best,
Phil

hm, do your discus ever move their lazy butts? ;D

Hi Phil, The plants are Java Ferns and Anubias which have little requirements.

Shalu, This is an old pair that no longer spawns. They are still getting accustomed the their new sorrounding after being in a 29gal for most part of their life. They're 7" Fineline SS.

Out of curiousity how old are they Dan? At what age do they stop spawning?

Julie

(really neat looking piece of driftwood - looks good)

Hi Jules,
I really don't know how old. I bought 'em as a pair. Spawned 3 to 4 times. Male fertilized less than 10% then stopped altogether. They been sitting in a 29gal for 6 months with no activity. Basically they are too expensive to resell as singles and they're gorgeous. This is their retirement home.

IM me for the whole story.

Wow Dan
That picture with the dimmer light is really awesome... wish I could find a piece of wood like that too! You would be surprized to see how difficult it is over here to find a decent piece (not even talking about the price... ::)

Once again, Bravo!

Thank you Remy. Have you tried looking for driftwood in plant nurseries? You can get great deals but you have to treat the wood for parasites.

Nice tank! I really like the "less is more" approach in decor. Are you adding any more discus to the tank?

Hi Brandy,
Thank you...
I plan to add 100 more of Cardinals.

What kind of filtration are you using for such a big tank?

I built my own wetdry filter from a 40 gal tank I had around. Look at reply #9 for a pic.

Very simple, yet elegent. I love it.. Do you have any problems with the sand traping the debris and causing alage. I did sand once in a non discus tank and gave up on it since it seemed to cause so much alage.

It's only a thin layer of sand.

Love that pair of Discus, maybe there new move might re-kindle the flame to start a family again, hehehehe.

I really like the idea of the night light, it looks good, and would be very practicle for the discus, no night frights.

Thank you. It's the talk of the neighborhood. The whole block saw me building the stand and they come to see the result. Now the wives want an aquarium in their house.

It's the TV in my computer room. :)
