hi there i'm new to discus and i was wonering how big a tank i would need to keep 6 discus

Hey Alex,

Welcome to Simply!

A 55 should be fine for 1/2 dozen adult Discus. Make sure you keep up with your water changes.

Be sure to keep us posted when you get your fish!

hi thanks for the reply i have a 47gallon bow front. would i be able to keep 5 discus in that

Yes, but Discus will typically do better if they are in groups of six or more. They are Cichlids after all and will form hierarchies amonst themselves and can be pretty nasty to each other if their group is too small. The general rule is 1 adult fish per 10 gallons of water. However, if you are religious with your water changes, you keep your tank emmaculate and well filtered, you may be able to get away with six. The only caveat is that they will most likely not reach their full size potential if they are too crowded.
