Go to the Biodome and Botanical Garden for sure! The underground ruins in the old city are worth seeing as well.

You'll love the bagels too, not the heavy monstrosities we have here.

If you want a fabulous breakfast, stay at the Le Bons Matin (the Good Mornings) Bed and Breakfast. Easy access to the Metro & UnderGround Mall.

Thanks Peter,
The boyfriend is choosing the hotel, which is extremely dissapointing cause he likes to overspend on american-like crap large hotels with ammenities he never ever uses(like a kitchen-ette.. he doesnt cook... ever), I've tried talking him into a B&B but so far I've gotten nowhere. :'(

Le Bons Matins gives you access to a shared Kitchenette (of course no one ever uses it, so my wife and I had it to ourselves). The breakfast is fabulous. We took a room with a Jacuzzi and two Fireplaces.

Definitely visit the Biodome if you're into nature.
The botanical gardens are quite beautiful also. Across from the gardens is the Olympic Stadium (The Big O) - site of the '76 Olympics.
Old Montreal is quite quaint and I really enjoyed the tour ina horse drawn carriage. There is beautiful Architecture in the Notre Dame Basilica and St. Josephs Oratory. On St. Catherine Street there are many shops and night life. There is also a Casino.

Julie

Oh yes Try the Poutine, a French Canadian favorite - french fries topped with cheese curds and gravy.

Well I'm back!

We ended up staying at a cookie cutter hotel the first night (all the b&b's we checked were booked) and then at Le Bons Matins the rest of the time, it was amazing there.

There was a bomb threat the 2nd day we were there, they began shutting down streets one by one as the hours passed, leaving it nearly impossible to walk to food or get back to the B&B. There turned out to be a ton of explosives in a van/car in a parking lot right near our place. The bomb squad was there for at least several hours, it was quite interesting for sure.

We walked around old Montreal alot, eating different types of food (although I never found the fries with cheese curd & gravy) . Alot of our food orders got messed up (uncooked steak, tiramisu that was just lady fingers & whipped cream, missing appetizers, then promises of fixing the bill and never doing so ::) )

We also took a boat ride through the river that showed the sites. And went to a light show "And there was light..." at Notre Dame Basilica that was amazing. It was a beautiful show that also explained the history of the Basilica from the point of view of a Ghost (the architect James O'Donnell).

We also visited the Bontanical Gardens, Insectarium (I loved it, Shawn was bored out of his mind), and Biodome. I loved the tropical setup in the Biodome.

We ended up going to the Casino and having dinner and then spending about $20 a piece gambling, it lasted about 30minutes - 20 of which was spent trying to find a change machine, trying to get the loonies turned into quarters (which the cashier turned into bills instead) then turning it back into loonies... etc... ;D
I found out I dont like gambling that much, I guess thats a good thing LOL

We tried looking for clubs and got tickets to ones for free from the B&B but all the places for the free admission were closed all week long it seemed, and most of the other clubs were closed up also except afew that were totally not our type of scene(punk/goth). We ended up cutting the trip short and leaving Friday morning. It was fun, but we missed home and we saw everything we really really wanted to see.

I came home to find out my sister, who I was paying to clean some of my tanks, had not really done her job. So I had alot of immediate changes to do just in case. But everyone looked A-OK, except afew dime size standard fin angels have aquired a bent dorsal but it was only a couple so I'm not to worried about it

All the discus look great, nothing wrong with them at all. She was sure to take care of them properly even if she wasnt as diligent with the angelfish & snails.

Shawn right now has all the film, I'll see if I can get some pictures up next week.

I'll see if I can but my connection has gone haywire. I wasnt used to the camera at all too and most of the pics came out blurry, some of my faves though were of the graffiti work on buildings
