During the recent thread on using hormones on spotteds I asked if anyone had any homegrown leopards, LSS's, Red spotted greens or any other similar strains that they could show us. I didn't get even one responce, let alone any pics, so I'm asking again. If you have any spotted strains, nice or not so nice, that you raised and bred yourself so we know they have never had any hormones, post some pics. I think people would like to know what these unhormoned fish look like both as adults and juvies. So come on. Lets see your true spots. Kacey

Hi Kaceyo,

These pics are the parent lines. the red diamond is not the actual fish as i don't have a photo of the breeder but it is a brother and very similar looking.

rod...beautiful fish! I love the RSG in the 2nd to bottom pic. As for the red diamond im really not clear on how this fish differs from a high quality Red Turk. (which is one of my fav fish as it turns out and if u ever breed these fish drop me a msg! ;) )

whatever the name that is a nice fish in the bottom pic!!

Thanks Aran :)

Your right about the red diamond looking nothing more than a red turquoise, thats what i consider it to be as well. The strain does have some bold red spots but mostly they are joined together to make it look like a line. I originally bought these fish from Shaifullah Yeng in Penang, he said they are german red turquoise x rsg, thats why i introduced some more rsg into the bloodline thinking it might make for some very nice , more spotty discus. I've been fortunate to breed these red diamonds in pure form many times and am actually breeding from the f1 now. There is a fine batch growing out at the moment, i'll let my friend in Canada know your interest and see if some can't be sent your way.

OK, now were getting somewhere. Rod, do you get any fry that look like the RSG? I love te RSG's that still have that "wild" look. Gary, I would hardly call that a "plain old" SS. They should all look so plain! Zoids, beautiful fish. Are both parents LSS's? What are you feeding? Gome on folks, there has got to be many more homegrown spots out there. Thanx, Kacey
