i put a sponge filter into action. that is i hooked up an air hose/air pump set up to a sponge (hydro) that was in the cycled tank without the air pump attachment (no bubbles). i plan to use it for my breeder pair tank and i want to make sure it has enough nitrifying bacteria .
how long does it take to seed the sponge. i think maybe it is already seeded as it was lying in the cycled tank for a year without the air pump hook up. just want to make sure before i use it as a bio filter exclusively with my precious breeder pair.
thanks acorn (guy)

Probably two weeks.
