View Full Version : Do Vertical bars mean bad news?

Well the first day has gone well, everyone is eating well and getting along.
I do have 1 question: one of my blue turqs (~3.5") keeps flashing it's vertical bars. They aren't always present, and none of my other fish are showing any signs of stress, so I don't think it's a water quality problem. Is it common for discus to flash their vertical bars over territorial positioning, etc? Or is this something I should be concerned about?

Thanks,

-J

Mine show there bars from time to time. Not sure why but they dont seem to be stressed or ill. The bossy one seems to show his more often.

In addition to a sign of stress, Discus also show their "stress" bars, as well as other forms of body language, as a means of communication with each other.
