Hi,

I wud like to know what is:-

1) F1, F2, F3, F4 and so on and so forth Fn?

2) What does F stands for?

3) Is there a way to identify that a discus is F1 and not F5? [If there is such an F5, cos I m not sure]

4) Can I have good frys if the parents are, for e.g. F3 and F8 categories?

5) How far can this Fn go?

CHEERS!

Parents are the F
First generation of offspring are F1
if you pair siblings from F1, their offspring are F2
If you pair siblings from F2, their offspring are F3 ......

You can only go so far with this before you need to infuse new genetic material.

Hi,
For african cichild, we usually have two F0(both wild) and their babies become F1. For discus, breeder introduces the wild to the line after a few generations. What will they call the babies of a F0 cross with a F5? Do they restart to F1 again? Thanks.
