help with violet reflection - fin problem? help

hi here is a picture of my my fish. he is ok in color (the picture is a little dark on the fish, but he is good color) the outer fins or the part just outside the body has disappeared. could this be for fighting or could this be becuase i have a lot of wood in my tank? or is he ill?
any thoughts would be great thanks

Fin margins are in good shape. I don't know what is eating away the slime coat. Is he scrathing at all - any other symptoms?

You might try formalin (1 cc per 10 gallons. Do 50% water change 8 hours later)
