Can someone tell me if this is hole in the head? I've got 5 discus in a 40 Gallon and 2 of them have a large hole in the nose.

I've had these guys for a little over a month and they are eating really well and are very active. Other than this large nose hole they seem very healthy.

Thanks for your input.

Hi rayw,

yes, it is a hole in the head disease.
The condition is serious and needs treatment
as soon as possible.
I recommend that you use the following medicen [ OCTOZEN ] from waterlife.
I have used this medicen for a similar case and it was effactive.
I hope that your fish will be cured.

best regards

ahmad

Yes, that is Hole in the head. I would guess by looking at him that he didn't have the best of conditions while growing up. He looks like a tough little discus that has been through alot. The fact he is eating is a good sign. Feed him bloodworms, tetrabits, etc. Keep the tank very clean. IF they stop eating or you see white, stringy mucus hanging from their vent you should get metronidazole and treat.
