can slime coat be seen or come off?

I have seen some of this white fuzz on sides on fins of parents with the new freeswimmers, is this normal? Can you actually see the slime coat?

Slime coat looks more like clear mucus - not fuzz. Fuzz would be a fungal or bacterial growth.
