Not sure if this belongs in Diseases/Medication so please feel free to move it.

I've noticed a small threadlike white worm squirming/floating in the water occasionally...all after a waterchange. The WC probably flushes it out of hiding. I've spotted them on 3 or 4 other separate occasions during the past couple of weeks. It's about half an inch long and it seems to be able to swim well. I've tried catching it with no success and it curls up into a tight little ball and gets lost in the water.

It doesn't look like any planaria or flatworm I've ever seen so I'm not sure whether I should be concerned or not?

Does it look like little snips of thread? If yes, they live in the filter too and are a symptom of overfeeding. Clean tank and filters, I don't remember what I've used to kill them try formalin or parasite clear.

Thanks Carol,

Yes, they do look like snips of thread. If it's a result of overfeeding I guess they're related to planaria to some degree. I'll try some formalin do a little more housekeeping and watch for excess food.
