I'm wondering if the water that is disgarded by a r/o unit. Instead of sending it down the drain can it be used to grow out fish

Works fine. During winter you might make sure that the heater can keep up.

I agree,

Am lucky to have great tap water! I mix 60% r/o water with 40% r/o waste water for My breeding pairs. it also works great for Guppies swords + mollies.

I use the RO water for my breeders and use the waste water for my grow outs. The waste water is perfectly fine just higher TDS than the low TDS RO product water. I have two lines. Product water going into one barrel and waste water going into the other. If you saw how much my monthly water bill was you'd understand why I'm so frugal about water.
