Microscope specs anyone?

In the future, if I can, I would like to take some of the guess work out of diagnosing and treating with meds. Anyone know the least amount of multiplication I would need to diagnose most? Never realized how expensive these things are:( I could buy another tank!!

I got a second hand microscope about 15 years ago from a friend who was a microbiologist. It has a number of magnifications and the one I used was 400. It does need glass slides for the preparation of the specimens. The light was placed under the specimen for through viewing.
I have not used it for a long time. Now that I am back into discus I may dust the cobwebs and use it again.
If you take a little specimen from the bottom of your tank, you will be surprised at the little critters in there.
