The greens will most likely lay eggs on the glass.

Here is a few pics from the reds 1st batch of eggs that I moved to a 20 gallon tank last sunday mom began to eat them and I wanted to see if they were fertile since she was eating them I figured it couldn't hurt.

Here they are wednesday:Picture is fuzzy ,but you can see they have dropped down from where they were on the pot. today they are begining to start swimming around a little but still mainly attached to the pot in various places.

Can someone tell me if it would be possible to add the babies from the 20 gallon(if they survive that long) back to the parents after the 2nd batch hatch and become free swimming??? Just a thought as I work a lot of long hours and that would be a lot easier.

Congratulations on the spawns
I would not attempt to add older fry to the new batch. The parents will view them as intruders and kill them.

Giniel, You and Robin must have the " Mitas Touch"!! I've never seen discus breed so soon after they arrive at their new destination from shipping stress.

I also bought an awesome breeder pair of green turqs from Eric and Tim.. Man, what beauties. They came in so perfect and haven't skipped a beat.

Wow!! That is a beautiful boy!! I hope you have the same luck we did!! I was nervous of my golden's since they have never actually had free-swimmers before, and removed 20 fry and placed with my pigeons. I then realized since they are all going to be light-colored fry, I will probably not know which are the Golden's in the pigeon tank...Oh well. Parents didn't know either....is a good thing:) It would be great if you can always time your good parent's spawn with new parent's spawns...lol. Free swimmers still in both tanks...Not very many attaching yet though. I don't know what Tim and Eric fed these guys besides bloodworms...but it must have been fishie viagra:) No complaints here:)

Those are nice Mandarines Ginial. Good luck with em. They all look great!

Robin and Giniel, What do you use for water supply?? Treated tap water or RO mix.. Also what are you feeding your parents and fry?? Right now I am shredding frozen bloodworms and tetra bits plus flakes for my babies. I hate to get into Beef H due to extreme mess in tanks and sponges.

Treated tap water, (Prime) I did attempt to age water, but my barrel lasted 2 days, and this was before the spawns anyway. I am quite sure, I have seen that Ginial uses the same. Adults are on Mysis, bloodworms, beefheart and tetra bits. (I very seldom feed the beefheart...I hate the mess as well. They are only getting it now, because of the juvie pandas, since I'm already cutting it up for them)
Juvies are being fed as follows:
Breakfast-Bloodworms
Tetra bits
Mysis
Tetra bits
Beefheart
Tetra bits
W/C--They usually get one more tetra bit feeding right before bedtime.
I have Brine shrimp hatcher waiting another day or so for my fry.
My first 3 discus were little juvies...They grew very slowly. But my other purchases since were fed this many times and w/c 50% daily, and I swear every morning they were bigger. I honestly think they suck up all the minerals in the water, and changing it everyday was the difference.
Robin
Right now I'm stumped with these two breeding tanks, lol....I can't clean em like I want.

Hi
My water is straight out of tap treated with Jungle ACE as that is all I can get here to treat for chlorine and amonia etc., Ph out ofttap is 7.,2 after in tank stabalizes at 7 . The Turks still have not laid. niether have the mandarins.I'm moving the mandarin tank up a little higher today to see if that helps, all he does is pick at her and push her to the glass .
I feed tetra bits when they will eat them
tetramin tropical flakes
bloodworms
brineshrimp
beefheart occasionally
The eggs is 20 gallon just became free swimming and it takes a long time to clean the tank as there is no parents to attatch to so they are everywhere.lol
They get first bites fry food .I haven't had any fry with parents yet but should in 2 days as the reds haven't eaten the eggs. they are good parents.
