:o I have been raising discus that I have purchased small for 3+ years, and friday, two that I raised from little guys, spawned. Then saturday they cared for the eggs took turns blowing, fanning, and kissing at the eggs. Then today (sunday )about 5 of the eggs turned into wrigglers and they ate all of the eggs that were turning white and then they ate the wrigglers. My friend Tom at Rainforest Farms International told me that the reason they had so few eggs hatch out was because of my canister filter. I was planning on shutting it off when the fry were loose, because I also run a sponge filter. The reason I run the canister is so that I can add peat to the water. So how can I add peat to the water without running a canister filter, and do I really need it?

Hi, maybe you could turn it down or off while they are spawning, then back on when they're done. Is there a LOT of current in the tank?

What is your ph and conductivity?
