I am hoping someone knows what the heck this is.
I set up the tank, added the water and am cycling the tank, then two days into the process the water turns a light white milky colour. I swear it is some type of microorganism because this has happened in this same tank before and it killed all the fish and is why i tore it down and disinfected it, guess I didnt do it good enough..
I now see long whitish strings stuck to the side of the tank . Is this some kind of bacteria?
I have some potassium permanganate and am considering shotgunning the water to see if it will kill the organism.
I have salted the water to 1.0 percent but it doesnt seem to be affecting this stuff. Anyone ever encounter this problem before and have any idea of what it could be? The tank has now been running for 4 days.
I am not putting anything in this water till I get rid of the problem and do a 60 percent water change.
Hope someone knows what the heck I am dealing with here.
Thanks

Never experienced this problem. Try the PP. If its organic, the PP ought to kill it.

IS it just a bacteria bloom - those are white?
