need some computer help

I'm having issues with web pages not being updated. I'm also having problems with message boards not being updated with new posts. Somebody told me to check to make sure my Java was active under the TOOLS & INTERNET SETTINGS. Under the TOOLS/INTERNET SETTINGS/ADVANCED the Java boxed is checked but then it says "requires restart". How do I restart Java? Just restarting my computer doesn't do anything.

Hi Gary,

Requires restart means that if you select or deselect that option you have to restart your computer before the change will come into effect.

Is it all web pages or just boards?

Hi Gary,

Some of the anti spyware programs, for instance, I think Spyware Blaster, will restrict Java and active X. I wouldn't be without S.Blaster, and I would be careful disabling anything. If you have installed SP2 for XP you may also have restrictions on active X content which may alter things?
