Just wondering if a carbon prefilter will remove chloromines from the water? I know it removes chlorine. If not is there some other filter material that will remove chloromines from the water?

No - you need to use Prime or other product specifically for chloramines.

Thanks Carol!
Thats what I have been using for the past several years. I will still run the water thru the carbon to help remove any other stuff thats in the water before going into my storage tank.

Carbon prefilters split Chloramines into Ammonia+chlorine and adsorb the chlorine leaving the ammonia to be dealt with...

SOUTHERN CALI. sucks for discus. Chloramines, chlorine, ammonia, high tds...you name it...

I would skip PRIME and just agitate your water via airstones.

Thanks for the info Randal!
So to completely remove cloromines from the tap b4 it goes into a tank it could be run thru a fliter housing that contains a carbon filter then thru an ammonia absorbing resin like zeolite. Would my thinking be correct?
