Raised successful clutch next batch eaten

My pair raised their frist successful fry. I have 11 out of the batch that are up to about half dollar size in 5 weeks.

They did everything correctly... They laid a batch of eggs last week and waited 48 hours or so and ate them.

Is this normal?

I don't want to use egg guards if I don't have to.

You just never know what they will do Bill - I'd get an egg guard in case they do it again. . .
