This fish ranges from a much lighter to this color , I'll try to get a good shot of it at its lighter color.
What do you think of the fish itself. I was thinking of selling it but my husband is trying to talk me out of it. Do Jade pigeons pass on peppering?
Does anyone know what the cross is for a Jade Pigeon?
Here is a shot of another I have.

The first picture looks good. But this one to me guys looks a little bit in the blue. I don't think it is feeling well. I've seen this before once when I had blue diamonds. They tend to get dark when the water chemistry changes (much like any other fish). I may be wrong, Karen. But it is a nice shaped fish and the color can be ultimately lighter in appearance and with a brilliant throw.

Just my humble opinion. :sun:

Hi Spices,
Nothing has changed with my water chemistry, it's just a darker colored fish, sort or marbled. It's not a blue diamond It's a Pigeon blood. It has a green tone with a flash on the camera but in day light it is several tones of blue and has a couple red lines in its dorsal, sort of interesting.
Guess if my background was lighter you could be correct and it could become a little lighter in color. I did have it in another tank with a light background but it was a bully to some others and was just a bit lighter in color. The fish in the first picture is the same type and I have one other that is evan darker almost Navy blue on parts of it's body??
I know what you mean by turning dark when they are stressed. I have two Angel Blue Diamonds and one gets consipated and turns a little darker before it poops sometimes I have to add epsom salt for her/him. I should have culled it being it does it often, but I feel bad for it and it's bowel problems- LOL!
Glad you sent your opinion!

Karen,

Wicked pictures... It's been a long time since I've been on SD...
Your BD looks great...

Hi Bou,
Great to see you back!
The fish are Jade Pigeon Bloods. All the other fish are doing fine, it's been over a year already- time flys! My Violet reflections and one Angel Blue Diamond are the biggest of all so far around 5 1/2". I have some Gold Diamonds and Red Marlboros catching up to them.
I sold my horse and Timber is doing great.
Do you still have Discus?
Hope all is well with you!
Karen

Hey Karen,
Sweet pictures... those BD are from GLD, right?
As for Discus, I still have 5 discus in my 150G... my dad takes care of them.
Since I've moved to TO, I've been on my own and have yet to buy a fish tank for my apt.
I work so much that I don't think I'd have time for baby discus...

Anyways, keep up the good work with your discus... and with Timber!!!
Pet him for me, would you? :)
Cheers,
Bou

Hi Bou,
Funny - people think they are BD's but they are Jade pigeon bloods- I'd say they turned out pretty nice. I wasn't expecting them to look like that.
I'll try to post some pics when they were babies.
You have a great Dad!!!
Don't work to hard!!!
Timber says hello too!!!
Take Care and Cheers to you,
Karen

Karen,

I apologize for the mistake, Jade, huh?
They look really big on that first picture you posted?
How old are they and how big?

How big is your tank?
Did you end up getting a bigger tank?
I know you were telling me you wanted a 75g or 90g?

I went back home last weekend and saw my little guys...
They look amazing... but not really big... I think they are between 5-6 in.
My next batch of discus, I'll try feeding them beef heart... or something with high protein (along with the tetrabits, frozen bloodworn, etc).

Please give my buddy Timber a great big hug and kiss.
Cheers,
Bou

Hi Bou,
How's things?
I've had the Jades about 14 months now, they are between 5 - 6 " I think.
I wound up starting with a 90 and than added a 55, also a 30 and 20 for possible pairs or hospital tank.
I guess one tank just isn't enough.
You should post some pictures of yours, that size dosen't sound bad at all.
I'll be sure to give Timber hugs & kisses, right now he's keeping cool on a slate floor.
Hope you have a great holiday weekend!
Karen
