View Full Version : White worms in gravel
Hi All,
I just set up a planted tank about 3 weeks ago. I noticed when the gravel is stired up there are small whte worms. I only have some algea eating fish in it right know. I have not fed any food. Could it be planeria or something else?
Thanks,

probably not planaria - they love smooth surfaces like the tank walls and inside your filter box. I'd get rid of the gravel and the worms before adding discus.

Ive been fighting the same problem for a few months. I have a barebottom, but they're hiding out in my filter. I tried formalin, fluke tabs, aven prazi, and nothing has worked.
Formalin will kill off a bunch of them, but it won't get rid of them completely. I have seen recommendations to use 1 tsp Acetic acid (vinegar) to 10 gal. I was hoping someone on the board could give this idea a thumbs up / thumbs down.

Never heard of using vinegar - vinegar will lower pH
