ask the people whos pics they are. : ) ring leopards..jeff at discusfarm.us may get. costly..and hard to get fish whos rings stay rings..rsg..nice alberto or brewmaster or oliver at belowwater in montreal. or..king ed can get rsgs in if you order them and take them home right out of the bags. ive gotten some nice wilds that way. butterflies or white diamonds..ask cary at www.greatlakesdiscus.com
dont forget theres a new 15 percent duty fee at customs now..besides the 15 percent for pst and gst and..45.00 handling fee at the cargo. on top of all the shipping. best to choose one person to ship from..get all at one time.

Keep in mind too that the pics you,ve posted are some of the nicest of each strain you're likely to see and the chance of finding fish that look as nice is remote at best. Do some research and make sure you let the supplier know what you want and be prepared to spend x-tra fr fish like those posted. HTH

Picture #1 with the black border is a red spotted green as are the group in picture #3. The fish in #3 are more representative of RSG than the fish in #1 and are readily available.

The ring leopard in #2 is probably one of a kind and worth thousands of dollars.

The pigeons in #4 should be readily available - be sure to specify no pepper.

I have this one. If price is a concern, don't ask how much. They are not cheap.

That picture of the Ring Leopard Jimmyhat posted (not Jeff's pics) is the same one I have seen all over the web. It is being used on the Something's Fishy Website, and by the same guy on Aquabid right this moment. I have also seen it on a couple SE Asian Breeder's sites as well. Probably the finest example of a Ring Leopard in the world, and one that will never be seen again.

I have 10 Ring Leopard Juveniles that I got from Tony at Sunrise Discus in San Fran several months ago. They are slow growers, but I had a non-participating juvenile male and a female spawn on the lift tube of a hydro sponge. They are both not quite 4 inches long yet. The male is too immature to fertilize, but the female did her thing. I've never seen them spawn that small before. I hope this pair stays bonded until they are old/big enough to do it right. It would be nice to spawn Ring Leopards.

Hey Jimmy:

You can easily find all those fish in Japan and maybe Hong Kong. It may be best to get a plane ticket and go find them yourself though if you don't want to be dissapointed.

Good Luck to you! If you can manage to get a collection like that ur either very lucky or very rich. Probably both!

take care,
Sandeep

I have seen tanks of Ring Leapords and LSS side by side in HK. Personally, I think LSS is a much better look fish than ring leapords. In fact, in HK, the price of ring leapords is much lower than LSS. Keep in mind that these fish are not as big as the BD or PB or other older strains. The adults may be about 5-6 inches.

the one jeff posted is a fish in his tank. alot of people who sell a strain..show the pic of the fish from the person possibly they came from in asia..maybe their winning fish..and some of the ones that get sent here may be relatives..they arent gonna send their show fish over here..
there are some breeders or importers who actually show pics of the fish they have in their tanks..including jeff,
best to get to know the person your dealing with..
those fish of yours discusdave..sound typical of fish that were hormoned..to see who had rings and who didnt at a young age before they were sent over here. thats part of the trouble..some of them start laying at 3.5 to 4 inches.from the hormones.alot of people got some of the original leopards and leopard snakes..and all laid young..and never grew alot..or never lived too long.
Jeff goes over to asia..and does know who they are coming from ..and has spent alot of time meeting and learning whos doing what etc... Hes also an honest seller .

April,

It is possible, but not necessarily indicative, of hormoned fish to lay eggs at that size. I have had it happen with discus I have raised from fry with no hormones in their diet. My Ring Leopards are healthy and growing well, but not as quickly as others I have had. I don't feel they can be pronounced hormoned solely because of that. Other factors influence ultimate size and rate of growth as well.

You are indirectly accusing Sunrise of selling hormoned fish in your comments, and I don't feel this is the case. Hard to judge that so quickly based on 3-4 sentences in my earlier post.

On another note:

Here is the very same Ring Leopard picture Jimmy posted at the beginning of this thread, taken from CLC Discus Farm's website:
http://www.clcdiscus.com/RingLeopard-2.html

This pic was also on an aquabid auction and at the seller's own website.

That is three websites I have seen this same pic without even looking hard.

I agree with April's comment!

Jeff costs him to pay for trip over sea in Asia to look for nicest discus, Jeff knows what north America custmors want to buy nicest discus. What he have lot of time spend look around over Asian breeders are not easy for him. That is a tough man!

Way to go a Big Tough Jeff Man !

I'm confused about what you guys are talking about. I don't think it's the same thing. The pics I posted in this thread are my discus. You are welcome to come and view them in my tanks at this very moment.

Hi Jeff,
Your Ring Leopards are beautiful. I was confused about what pic was being referrred to. The pic I've seen all over the place is the one in the post above, not yours. Sorry for any misunderstanding.

The Ring Leopard is available from Somethingphishy.com, I think Keith
gets them from CLC as mention.

discusdave..not pointing fingers at anyone . i have no idea if yours were hormoned.. yes..discus can start at about 8 months..or a bit less and some of the newer strains are smaller or slower growing.
i understood those are jeffs fish in his tanks. all his pics are from his tanks.
