I dont quite know where this should have gone, so here goes!

I have this evil algae taking over my drift wood. Its not on the plants or the glass, just the wood. My stupid pleco used to do his job, now he is just a big fat lazy good for nothing! Who can I hire next to sort this issue out for me, any suggestions (enter question mark here, I dont have one!)

Its a 120 gallon tank
Temp 85
Ammonia 0
Minimal nitrates
gh and kh hover around 3 or 4
ph 6.9
average about two 25% water changes every 3 days

Thanks for any and all help :)

maybe add a young pleco??? or you could pull the wood and clean it.

If I add a baby pleco, wont it just land up big and fat and lazy like my 7yr old one!
And if I clean the log, wont it just come back, do I need a constant maintainence fish, or will cleaning it rid me of the problem forever

Thanks for the suggestions!

What does the algae look like. There are a few different types of algae, and so different ways to deal with it.

If you need a page with a breakdown pictorially of algae types, try this one:

There's also some recommendations in that article....

I would take it out of the tank and boil it to kill everything-give it a good scrubbing with a brush and then add an ancistrus (bristlenose, etc.) to take care of the new stuff as it starts to grow.
