My pair lost interest in their eggs after I put the screen over their eggs. This is the second time this has happened. Before one or the other was allways tending to them and now only rarely do I see one of them in front of the eggs. The eggs are clearly visible about 1/4 to 1/2 inch inside screen. Screen is black plastic gutter gaurd rolled into a tube and tied with nylon string to hold in place and keep it from touching the eggs. Any ideas as to why this is happening?
Thanx,

Kacey

Sort of a catch 22 isn't it. Eat the eggs with no guard and ignore them with . . . do any eggs hatch with the guard?

Yes, they do hatch out if aloud to. I have 10 little 3 day old free swimmers (stop laughing) from the last batch from eggs they knocked off the pipe when startled. I'm honing my artificial rearing skills with them so I have options when a really desirable batch of eggs comes along.
Have you ever had the parents egnore their spawn after a screen was placed on?

Yes, initially. They went back to them after awhile.
