I have been removing the screen as soon as the eggs hatch into wrigglers because it seemed the pair was trying much harder to get at them. I didn't want them to damage the lil'guys trying to suck them through the screen. In general when do most breeders remove the screen, when they hatch into wrigglers or afer they start dropping off the cone?

I have used the pvc gutter guard a couple of times and don't remove it until the wigglers are free swimming. Once they're all detached, I remove it.

If you plan on leaving the eggs screened-off until they are wrigglers, have the tank extra clean and use an egg sanitizer.

Your pair cant remove the fungused eggs behing a screen, fungus can attack the infertile eggs and spread to the good ones rather quickly when the water quality isnt its best.
