I'm hoping this will help us get to know where the breeders are as well as hobbyist in our area's so we can network with each other better.

I really like to hand pick my fish and I'm hoping this may help some of you others do the same where you live whether it be from Breeder or hobbyist.

All of you ADDICTS show us where you getting your fix at!

Marie. Saw it used at Investorshub. Hoping people participate so we can grow the hobby in our area's we live in by networking more. I like to hand pick my fish and see other people's setups. This map may allow others to use it for reference when one comes on here selling fish or needing a certain kind.
When you can nice to not have to pay shipping cost.

Good idea, Greg, although we live too close together - I'm hidden by your pointer :-) At the moment, the Pacific Northwest looks like a veritable hotbed of discus activity. I have a sneaky feeling this will change over time!

I'm guessing we'd be OK adding links to people who may not know of the site but are, nevertheless, active with discus (I'm thinking Mac's- but if I add him then I may well be completely invisible, since we'd have three of us within 8 miles or so !!! :-)).

Thanks.

Mark

Greg,

A few days ago, Mountain Man posted the same link. Here is his:

Here's the link to his post (at the bottom of the first page of General):

Maybe you guys should combine them or something.

I applaud your initiative, this is very useful.

The one suggestion I would have is to combine the separate maps you set up for this site, and Discus as a Hobby to compile a single database of Discus folk.

I agree about consolidating these. In the interests of achieving critical mass, I'd propose we leverage Greg's URL since that one already has a bunch of people add their location, as compared to the other one (no offense intended, Mountain Man :-)).

Thanks Marie.

Mark.........
If you play with that tool that resides over Washington State you can zoom in on our State and see your pin and all the other cities around Seattle.
Very cool map as when you zoom it gives you an idea how far away everyone else is and main roads show how to get to general area.

Ryan........

I missed his map.
Yes, I agree they should be combined. Not sure how to do it without asking people to sign up on one or the other?

Cowboy Steve.........
Reason I set it up that way is I have read a few posts from both sites from certain people who won't post at the other site for different reasons.
I agree your idea makes sense.

I did notice though when you get to many on a map it really becomes cluttered up. Zoom feature cures that though.
Here is an example of to many.............

That is where I first saw one of these used.

I should have guessed that.

When will this madness end?

Bernie. You did read my explanation right?
The amount of people who signed up on the first map compared to the second has nothing at all to do with whether or not you or I am new.

In fact you joined before I did.

Like I said in my post I learned about that type of map from Investors Hub and placed link to it also when asked.

Also said I missed your post.

Over the years of being on message boards I find responses to posts sometimes can be just because the time of day it was posted or what day it was that determined the response.
Sometimes no explanation makes sense.

I'm sorry you feel hurt by this.

I'd never do anything to intentially hurt a fellow hobbyist.

No reason for you to leave.

The more people here we can learn from the better.

I hope by my confirming once again what happened you will reconsider.

I'm guessing (and certainly hoping) that Mountain Man is having a joke with us. I can't believe that anyone would take something like that so seriously.

Hey, I just noticed that the map moves around and is in fact a world map!!
Ok, I'm a little slow and didn't catch that at first.
So where are our international friends??

Wolfbane. Try the Satellite feature. They have mine wrong but I read at Investorshub the guy said he was able to see the top of his house.
