a lot of the Pms are concerning proper water parameters etc.
let me attempt to bring reason into all this
1. SOFT WATER IS BEST
SEE IF U CAN GET A WATER SOFTNER INSTALLED IN YOUR HOME
2. USE RO WATER NO ADDING ANYTHING TO IT FOR breeders and eggs nursery
dont funk with it
ro water is very similar than amazon water
3. this RO and water softened water should really aid in happy discus enviroment
4. ALL DISCUS TANKS SHOULD BE BARE BOTTOM
i know i know screams yells and little wierd creatures on the screen
of course u can have great planted tanks and the fish look great
and all that
but production is very limited
filters are dangerous
FILTERS GROW GOOD AND BAD BACTERIA
in reality
in production setting i do as the asian breeders do
i have no filters in my breeding tanks or grow out tanks
filters are not needed at all
big WC is
proper amount of feeding and then 30 minutes later
BIG WATER CHANGE
feed 3 hrs later again same drill
if u dont like to change water
bettr find another hobby
keeping the Ph stable is very important
today they have PH controllers
very nifty

one really needs a scientific approach for best results with Discus Fish
there are many papers and studys in german
learn german
there is a large work in germany by scientists and hobbyists alike
reading german is a great plus
because the discus fish when domesticated and housed indoors in tanks etc
has developed many new colors and bdy types and variants,
and as well new diseases and VIRUS come along with all that
for fish newly arriving in your tanks
use acraflavine one drop per gallon for three days
with triple suplha and Marcyn
TREAT EVERYONE WHEN ANY NEW FISH ARRIVE WHETHER QT OR NOT
very good for newly arrived fish
if u suspect ammonia poisening use furan or nitrofurazone instead of the first suggestion..keep then warm but not to quickly bring temp up slowly
if fish are itching use FLUKE OR LICE MED...
or if they breath from one gill holding one gill compressed against there bodies
while the other gill is extended and hyper plastic
gill flukes USE GENERAL CURE
if all of the above
use the GENERAL CURE ONLY
for five days
AND THEN USE THE TRIPLE SUPLHA
MIXING MEDS IS NOT A GREAT IDEA EXCEPT WHERE REFERENCED.
discus are very hardy and can survive threw hardships most other fish would die from
ALMOST ALL DEATHS IN DISCUS ARE FROM OVER MEDICATION IE AMMONIA SPIKES THAT KILL QUICKLY DISGUISED AS DISEASE.
yup major major killer of most tank held discus fish
