Ive been wanting to ask? ................. What exactly is a STENDKER??

Im in Baltimore and one of my local shops has alot of STENDKERS and i also noticed HANS's website (who is also in Baltimore) says he raises STENDKERS.

So is the name STENDKER one of Hans's (http://www.discus-hans-usa.com/) strains? or does he just breed those as well if its a strain name at all?

EDIT: After looking at HANS's front page again ....... i believe that answered my question .... lol

Stendker is the name of a well know breeder in europe. He specialise in old school discus, cobalt, alenquers, turqs etc... If youre looking for these old school strains it's the place to buy. Han's is the US contact for the stendker as he is an importer of those.

Cage. You very blessed imo to live near his setup. That would be great.
I'd be hanging out at the entrance with a sign that reads.........

Will Work For Discus!

I havent been into discus very long at all but since i got my new tank that came with 2 of them ............ ive been searching the net to get as much info as i can about them and they're care. Thats how i found this site.

Within 30 minutes from my house there is Peter Thodes Gwynbrook Farms (http://www.discushatchery.com/) & Hans's hatchery (http://www.discus-hans-usa.com/) and i plan on setting up an appointment to go see both of them soon.

old school..classic strains. the originals..before pigeons and whites..and leopards..etc etc.
i like the classic strains . alot of discus people..buy every strain..gotta have the newest strain..after awhile..you begin to appreciate the classics . cobalts. alencers. rt etc.
those are great pics..hope you get little bitty discus fry swarming around the parents. keep us updated.

Dont get mad Green country discus. English is not my first language and I thought that Old school was appropriate for this. But if you prefer I'll say Classic as April said. So the fool was just trying to help somebody on this board...

By the way I was not denigrating stendker's discus in any way. I wish I had a tankfull of his fishes and if I had the choice between a Stendker Alenquer and an Asian golden leopard snakeskin, I would choose the alenquer with no hesitation

alenquer is really not an "old school" strain. turqs, cobalts, brown discus, greens, royal blues yes.

Alenquers exist in the wild so they are around since quite a while so I considered them as "old school" hum I mean classic ;)
Anyway...

Very nice SS Jeff
