That's so neat Marie!!
It's so awsome the first time they come up to eat out of your hand. My boyfriends discus all do that. Mine are a little more shy. The turq that i had to get rid of (aggression) used to always do that. I love it!!!

Marie,
Now isn't that neat when they begin to trust you that much to take food from your hand?
All my Discus do it except the PB, but he seems to be moving in closer every day, I know he'll just start pecking on the food eventually from my hand.
My smaller Red Turq, the one that's at the bottom of the pecking order, is the most friendliest of all the discus, he let's me "pet" it's dorsel fin all the time.
He'll even moves closer to my fingers the moment I open the hood on the tank.
He might be on the low end of the pecking order, but shy he's not!

Can we see picture's of your Fish?

JM~

Yes it was very cool. I used some flake food, but i want to get something like a chunk of beefheart that i can hold on to better and he will nibble longer! I could just get a chair, JM, do it all day...

Your discus do that? That is so very cool! I hope mine will do that, but they dont even come to the top of my tank. To the front, but never the top. And that one, actually letz you pet him? Jm, how long have you had him? Do you think he would do that with anyone? Or only with you?

I can not wait to touch one of my discus! I thought i squashed one yesterday with my heater it was horrible. I was swearing, and almost in tears! Then i thought i burned him...can they get heater burn?

Im tellin ya, doing my water changes sometimes requires a drink along with it!http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/7/7_4_13.gif

and i dont drink!

Marie,
I've had these fish since they were dime size...I got them back in March of this year.
None of my fish seem shy really. They are quite use to me coming in and of the room. My computer desk is set up right next to the tank so they see me all the time.
I have no idea if they would take food out of somebody else's hand or if the Red Turq would let any body else "pet" it's dorsal fin, the other Red Turq sort of lets me pet it, but never as often or as prolonged as the smaller one.
JM

PS: Does any one know if it harmful to the fish to "touch" them?
