Metro flake?

Any expereinces or opinions on how well the medicated flakes work? Are they good for maintenence, let's say every month or so use them for a few days? In particular, I am talking about Metro flake.

I forgot to mention.....I have some of the Hikari Metro, it is a powder granular form, like sugar. It says to use "a capful" for every 10 gallons, but it is not specific as to how much of a dosage that really is. Anybody know?
