Happy Holidays to Everyone at Simply
About mid November two of my Leopards started acting like
a pair by laying eggs and then attending and then eating them.
They have been doing this every week for the last 7 weeks.
They laid the 8 spawn yesterday. I have watched but never
see who eats the eggs. The female(wide fat tube) will deposit
the eggs on the AC siphon. She refuses to us the cone. The male
(small pointy tube) follows behind. I can not tell if there is any
change in the eggs due to them laying on the smoke colored tube.
Usually within 48 hours the eggs are gone. They stay long enough
for one or two to turn white, fungus I guess.
I keep thinking that this can not be good for the female to keep laying
eggs each week with no break.
Age...they are about 11 months old at this point. I am thinking that
the male is probably not ready based on what I have read.
They both take turns watching the eggs so appear to be doing their
job. Sure would like to know what the trigger is to eat the eggs.
If I take the AC off the tank, will they use the cone? Is that necessary?
Anyway, comments and thoughts appreciated.
Hope everyone has a great Christmas and New Year.

Butch:)

11 months is pretty young. Give them some more time...
