Sorry to hear that Al, was wondering where you were.:)
I see the common antiviral meds are not working against the flu this yr.

Antiviral Medications
Your doctor may recommend use of an antiviral medication to help treat the flu. Four antiviral drugs (amantadine, rimantadine, zanamavir, and oseltamivir) are approved for treatment of the flu. During the 2005-2006 influenza season, CDC recommends against the use of amantadine or rimantadine for the treatment or prophylaxis of influenza in the United States

http://www.cdc.gov/flu/symptoms.htm

Thankfully I haven't had it yet, nor do I want it:)

Hope you get well soon.

Hey Al! Sorry to hear you're not feeling well. I don't know anyone here on Long Island who's had it yet....You can keep it on your side of the sound, okay?

Feel better soon.

I had it for over a week.. Bronchitis which the Doc said was beginning to develop into pneumonia. Gave me some huge antibiotics which seemed to do the trick. It was a miserable week though.
Glad that you are feeling better Al.

Lol Frank!

My Dr told me that The chicken soup I was using was worthless...he said I should try a good beefheart and shrimp mix, and raise the temp ....we'll see.:)

Since its a a virus I'll stay off the meds until a secondary sets in.:)

Sorry to hear your household has got that yucky flu. How are the kids doing? I am always amazed how they get so sick but bounce back so quickly. Not like us adults! It seems to drag on for us old folk......http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/4/4_9_8.gif

Hope you all start feeling better soon.:)

Remember what your mom said...

Wash your hands, soap and water is better than the no-water things
Disinfect the phone and door handles, 409 is fine, alcohol is great
Get 15 minutes of sunshine a day on your face
Eat your vegetables, 5 to 9 servings a day (not including starches like corn and potatoes as vegetables)

:p Wow Al! hope you're doin' better, these illnesses are a drag, big time!! I got my flu shot again, never know if it really helps, so far so good... At Xmas, the whole family was sick with intestinal virus, short one, I managed to avoid it, my daughter was using Airborne, maybe it did help too. & yes, April, the 5 yr old brought it home!! hang in there Al, Dottie

well i did daycare at my house..and my son had so many infections..his spleen was enlarged. but..kids have to build up their immune system..if they dont do it now..then they will later..
but theres some places that are good to avoid. like daycares full of runny nosed kids..big daycares..like 40 kids. they also say if they change schools or areas..they get sick the next year. new germs..new area..different immunities.
happens to rabbits too..if you move them from one rabbitry to another..and discus..

Al, my son and I have been going through it as well, usually I hit it early with Dimatapp and it's gone but this time I had to live through all the symptoms! Zycam seems to be helping, give it a try! For the throat use Chloroseptic Spray, nothing's better! Oh and don't forget to double dose before going to bed!

Sandeep

BTW, shouldn't this belong in the Disease/Sickness section? Please mOVE :D

but..kids have to build up their immune system..if they dont do it now..then they will later..

Yeah April
But when they are 18 years old they might be out the house so they can build their immune system in their own house so I can get a good night sleep.LOL :D ;) Yep our doctor told us that most kids catch a cold about 9 times a year and if you squeeze that in from Oct-April you can see why they are always sick.

Sandeep
Yes I did hear that Zycam works pretty good but never tried it.

Al
For the stomach flu I gave her sliced Ginger covered with sugar and within 12 hours it was gone.
