I know this has been probably been asked a quadzillion times. For the people here that are running 75gal. tanks what do you run for filtration on yours? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hi There,

I'm currently running 3 75 g's. I tend to over filter my tanks but I run an AquaClear 110 and 3 Hydro V's on all three of them.

This allows me to overstock a bit if needed and I also have extra seeded sponges going all the time in case I need them.

I currently run eight 75 gallon tanks and they all have the following;

1 AC 500/110 and 4 hydrosponge IV's (I stack two sponges together)

You can never have too much biological filtration.

I use an Eheim 2028 with a large prefilter sponge. I clean the prefilter every other day. Every month I take apart the canister and clean or replace the fine filter pad. Every other month I rinse the biomedia.
I like to keep two hydro V's in the tank for backup and/or or use in other tanks. I have 10 medium to large discus and 3 ancistrus to keep down the algae. The tank is bare bottow with 1 large piece of driftwood and several plastic plants.

Predrilled MarineLand Jet Stream hooked to Tide Pool 2 wet/dry. Do I need to add sponges? They seem popular.

The sponges are great--very portable. I'm in the woods and the power goes out once or twice each winter. I keep a bunch of battery-powered airpumps to run my sponges during outages.
