I usually like to do something small for my sweetie to let him know that I love him. His favorite thing is to get a nice back massage. So I like to buy a nice oil with a little note card attatched to it saying 5 massages anytime. Something like that. I think that my bf and I are pretty romantic, and he is more so in the last year in a half. Our relationship has grown so much in the 5 1/2 years that we have been together. I'd say that I have found my perfect match, and boy does he know it!!! lol....

Romantic?....Me?....ummm....Apparently NOT! :(

Due to our schedules (hers actually), I prepared her a Valentine's dinner last night. It was glorious...if I must say so myself...Some wonderful mushroom caps stuffed with bacon, onion, cheddar....a couple of perfectly cooked Delmonico steaks smothered in sauteed mushrooms and onion...served with a potato gratin and asparagus spears drizzeled with a garlic-butter....a wonderful bottle of Amorollo (sp).....It was amazing.....until.....

Somehow, the conversation got around to vacations. We happily recalled our trip to California last year and eventually I asked what she wanted to do for this year's vacation....That seems to be where it all went wrong.

She scampered out of the room all giddy and quickly returned with a travel brouchure. She opened it in front of me and pointed excitedly at a picture of dogs pulling sleds somewhere in the wilds of Alaska....."I want to do that!", she said excitedly.....

Now....she knows how much I hate the cold .....but she looked so happy just thinking about it.....

So....thinking I was about to become the most romantic man in the world...I said,"well....ok....But I don't want you pulling any real heavy sleds and risk messing up your bad knee..."

With that she stormed out of the room, locked herself in the bathroom, and hasn't spoken to me since...:confused:

I am not sure I need to answer all the required questions...but I am going to marry the love of my life in July this year. I hope that tells you something.

As for romantic, I'll tell you a short story of our engagment.
On the day of Anna's graduation from Bath Spa University, her father took an envelope from his jacket and gave it to Anna, the envelope contained an invite for Anna to accompany me on a Carribean holiday. Of course she accepted. While we were on holiday in the Dominican Republic, a real paradise island, I arranged a taxi for a day about mid way through our 2 weeks. I told the taxi driver to take us to a 'perfect' desert island beach, one that there would be no tourists, no locals, just the two of us.
Eventually, after several hours driving we came to this really stunning beach. White sand, blue sea, warm sun and lined with overhanging coconut palms for as far as the eye could see.
The taxi driver left us and drove off to get us a picnic dinner, leaving us on the beach. We had a swim, and sat on the sand while the water lapped at out feet. It was heaven. I got up and started to look under the coconut palms. On the floor I found this old nut, no husk on it, just the shell. Discreetly, I broke it open on a rock, and decided to walk into the sea again while Anna was just relaxing on the sand. I swilled out the two halves of the coconut shell so it was clean inside, filled it with some clean sea water, and dropped in the engagment ring which I had hidden in my shorts, then replaced the lid of the nut. As Anna sat on the beach enjoying the sea and sun in her bikini, (steady lads) I slowly walked out of the sea cupping this big nutshell in my hand, as I approached her, I sank to one knee, and said to her that I had found a special nut. She reached out and I gave her the coconut, and as she lifted the lid, she looked inside to see the diamonds glistening in the water and sunlight. I then asked her to make me the happiest man alive, and asked her to marry me. She said yes of course, and the rest is history.

Well, we are getting married on the 14th July this year.

I think when you have found true love, life is easy, life is never a struggle, life is full of happiness and does not depend on what you have, either material things or money (though it helps)..... .you should spend time reflecting on what you have in your partner, and never take it for granted. Say 'I love you' everyday, and never forget why you fell in love in the first place.

Ok, that me done, get me a bucket!!!

Bein married for 26 years, you wind up knowin each other pretty damn good! Of course she knows me better than I know myself, but thats another story.

I was in CVS spendin what seemed like hours pondering over the perfect card. You know that card! The one that makes all the hopeless romantics eyes swell up when ya read it. I just couldn't find the right one!

I was fixin to go to another store when cruisin up one of the isles, I spotted these music cards. I then spotted one that had one of our songs from about 10 years ago.
You open the card an it plays "yer still the one I love" from Shania Twain.

That was the perfect card!! Her expression was priceless when she opened it!! I was almost in tears lookin at the expression on her face!!

Then she handed me my card.. I opened it to the tune of "yer still the one I love" by Shania Twain.........Ahhhhhhhhhhhh....... 26 years of marriage! :D
