Login Issues with AOL and Internet Security Software

One of the most common questions that keeps popping up is why people are having trouble logging in and staying logged in. In most cases, we've found AOL to be the culprit. We are not sure why this is the case, but it appears to have something to do with their internet security settings. It is most likely a Cookies issue. Cookies are small files containing login information that are stored on your computer. These files help the site to "recognize" you. Some internet security programs, firewalls, and services like AOL block most (if not all) Cookies by default. Though this can help to protect your computer, it will also keep you from logging in.

The best solution we have found when using AOL is to use a different browser other than AOL's default browser. You can download browsers such as Internet Explorer, Netscape, and Firefox from their websites for free. If you have a Windows-based PC you most likely have a browser already installed on your system. You will also have to adjust your security settings in order to allow Cookies. Please note that some software allows you to specify which sites to allow Cookies from. You can add simplydiscus.com to the list and this should fix the problem.

For those of you who encounter login issues, please try using a different browser or modifying your security settings to see if that fixes your problem. There may also be a way to address this problem with AOL or your internet security software. Please check the FAQ/Help manuals provided for those products for more information.
