What kind of battery does it use? and what is the % error on it?

It takes a button battery, replacements are about 40cents. These are supposed to be good for 9months on average. According to the packaging accuracy is +/- 2deg. But I've tested 8 of these on the same tank and all were within 1degree of each other. Also had a laboratory grade mercury thermometer on the tank and all 8 were within 1 degree of it.
Thanks,
Mike

Me too, 2 digital and 3 glass. Maybe a little too much:D

I answered "other", but I guess it could have been "digital", since I mostly just use my finger which has been calibrated pretty darn close after all these years. :)

If I really need to know, I throw in a glass thermometer, but after the big cats ate 2 of them, I am down to one.

Take care,
Paul.

Hi,
I use the stick on tank type, two on each tank, Plus I have a handheld (infra red?) temp reader. I use this when filling water barrels or checking tanks to be sure.

+/- 2 degrees is quite a bit of variance. Most of your cheapo indoor/outdoor thermometers are either +/- 1 Degree or .5 and can be had at the local Wal Mart or dollar store for cheap....

I'd need to see some specs from the manufacturer before I'd buy one...

I've tested a bunch of these on the same tank in addition to a laboratory grade thermometer and they were all within 1 degree. Most were .5 degrees of the lab thermometer.

What's the specs on the "lab grade" thermometer? Even the best don't get much better than .5 unless frequently calibrated...

Who makes these things?

Wow, excellent research. It's also the same company who makes the coralife thermometer. $1.43 if you are willing to buy over a thousand of them. Around $3US when you add in the shipping and import broker fees.:D

600% ? I wish:D maybe 110% I haven't been able to find a coralife thermometer shipped for less.

Ok,
That's enough for me. This is a commercial sales thread. Buying at wholesale to resell is the definition of commercial sale IMHO. DiscusVT, Please contact Al Sabetta (Brewmaster15) to discuss becoming a sponsor. Further posts of this nature will be deleted immediately.
