awesome photo of the Golden Melon pair. Did their fries turn out to have solid colors or some will have slight pattern as the male does have a slight white pattern above the head. Just wondering. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Dan,
thanks again for the prompt reply. Appreciate it. Does the male always have the Golden look instead of the solid red/marron color? was wondering as I had posted some photos of my incoming adult male RGD and some was doubtful of it. I had seen in Andrew Soh's book on page 54 showing the same melon pair not sure if it's Golden Melon or RGD) that the male doesn't have the colors of red/maroon like the female does and the male also had some slight pattern on it's head Looking forward to your reply to ease the confusion among us hobbyists.

Hi Sindhu,
I found most males are more yellow than the females. When breeding the females have a richer color and the fins turns orange. The males stayed the same. The problem is they don't darken and frys have a tough time finding the parents.

Hi Dan,
thanks again for sharing and the confirmation about the male RGDs. What do you do in the case above that the fries find it hard to locate their parents? what's the color of the b/ground in the tank that they're breeding in? and what do you do to help attachment, besides lowering the water level? Geez! do bare with me with lots of questions. Thanks again

I have a similar one coming from my MP pair although mine has some faint stress bars. Actually, I have 2 of them. One has the nice shape. The other started as a runt but is now eating profusely and has caught up with its siblings. I'll post pics when I can. They look more gold than red but they have some red hues because of the colorbits. I'm thinking San Merah but they have the bars, so Virgin Red?

You were right, I dont think these will be leaving my house. Gorgeous. Ill take pics soon and post them. I just love the high bodies on them and the color is amazing. All eight are doing great.
