Any suggestions on which RO unit to get?

I hear that RO units create a lot of waste water. What percentage of water is used vs. wasted?

How long does the filters normally last?

Check with Walter at www.airwaterice.com (http://www.airwaterice.com) for the RO unit.

RO units will waste a MINIMUM of 4.5 Gallons of water per gallon produced. If your tap water is Cooler than 77F, Lower pressure than 50-65PSI, Has a Higher pH than 8.0 or more TDS than 200PPM, it will waste more.

RO membranes should last 2-3 Years. Prefilters depend on your feed water.

Wow, that's a lot of waste water. For people with these RO units, what do you do with the waste water?

A lot of units have the waste go directly in the waste trap so it goes down the drain. I have mine so I can collect it too. I use it to water plants, etc. but I've been mostly pooring it out too.

You can use some of the waste to harden off the RO if needed.

As soon as I get an RO unit the wastewater will be cycled thru my African Cichlid tanks. They love the liquid rock from the tap and since the wastewater goes through the sediment and carbon prefilters it's nice and clean.
