I was wondering if growth rates vary depending on the strain of discus? What is the average growth rate that you all get. I have some 2.5" dragon kings, 2.75" red dragons and a 4" scarlet coming and will ask the breeder when i finally remember to call and ask but was just wondering what you all get so i know what to expect while raising them. here they are.:)

The simple answer is yes, growth rates vary within strains and between strains, the older strains 'tend' to grow slightly slower ime.

Some discus just don't grow, These two are siblings from the same spawn, I've had them since they were two inches, same tank, water food, ect. Both are healthy. Small fish topped out at 3.5", large fish is almost 6" and still growing and one of my best breeders. Go figure.

I would also say "yes" on strains as well as with the same spawn.

I think pb strains grow much faster with what I've seen. With all spawns some just grow better with all strains

Yes, even with the same batch of fry.
