How long would it take for a discus to get it final shape? At what size is the shape stop developing? I heard a lot of expert cull their juvies because of the football shape. Does this mean that their shape won't change as they grow?
Thanks

They get their round shape fairly young. Purchase fish that are round at three or four months and you stand a much better chance of getting round adults.

Thanks Carol. Normally, how big is a 3-4 month old discus?
By that time they should be 2 or more inches. By the time discus are 1.5 inches you can really see the round shape developing and by 2 to 3 inches it should be very apparent if they will be a nice shaped adults. These sizes will very depending on things

Ibquoc, I will attach a pic of fry at almost 2 months (free swam on 1-17). These guys and gals are growing as well as can be expected, they are 2"+-at this time. Their shape and eye size will be an indicator of what well developed fry at this age should look like. Enjoy.
