Your Favorite Strain of Discus

As the title suggets. what is your favorite strain? Thats if YOU were only allowed to pick one STRAIN. I thought this might be a fun topic.

Ok, maybe this sounds boring, but I just love the Turqs. I have 2 right now, and 2 babies up and coming. I love the sheen on their skins, the contrast of colors, and they seem very hardy.

I love the striateds, turqs etc. they have differing lines and shapes and colors in contrast to their stripes.

But it is really hard to pick just one discus I love them all!!!

I feel kind of embarrased on saying this , but I really like my striaded turks. Red turks and brilliants. I kind of feel behind the times but ..hey ..I don't care. I have other fish that I like very much, but the turks are my favorite ones. At least for now.

However, I've never owned any spotted and I'm getting two Mosaics and two Web Leopard Snakes from Dan at Gulf Coast Discus Thursaday morning.

Ive seen spotted, striated & solid discus that i thought were ugly and other spotted, striated & solids that are gorgeous!!

I guess my favorite would be any with great shape, coloring and markings! lol

I love the wilds...all of them :D sorry can't pick one strain :D :D

I can pick one on the types I dislike..which isn't many... no taste for calicos .

I know what you mean about the calico's. I dislike them myself. As for my self and you can call be boring I like any solid that has a smooth coloration to it.

LOL asking me to pick ONE favorite discus is like next to impossible...all of them are fantastic at least imo anyway...granted some nicer than others but again thats just my own personal thing...lol..I think my favorite ones are those that are in my tanks and healthy and growing well...lol..

Oh, my favorite it would be Symphysodon aequifasciatus! :D LOL, just joking, LOL.

Hmmmm, that's very hard, I love that Ocean Green I have, but hands down the one that makes me come running to a tank quicker is probably a Snow Leopard (or red/white, those fish will make me travel miles in bad weather to get 'em, LOL!). Love that pure red red!

I've enjoyed this thread immensely! I thought I was pretty much alone in still liking the "wild" coloration. My favorites are Red Turks, and wild greens too.

RSG's, yup Red Spotted Greens I think, or it could be Albinos,no RSG's or mmm.. Red Leopard Snakes, yes er no RSG's, definitely-ish RSG's

I have always wanted an Ocean Green, unfortunately every time I get one it looks like a BD when it grows out. I love my new MR, hhmmm. Red and Green, maybe I have a Christmas subcontious? lol
