more pepper now

hi all,
i bought a gold diamond, at least thats what they said it was ,looked real light yellow, the face was almost white, after 1 week the face is alot darker almost like peppering.and the yellow is more gold now the whole fish is darker, is there something with my water or set that can do that, it still looks healthy eats well,water is @ 84 deg. 0 amnonia,0 nitrites,ph is 6.5 nitrates 5 ppm.I liked it lighter and cleaner.

The peppering will get worse if the fish is under stress or with a dark background. If you took that same discus and put it in a bb tank with a white or light blue background the peppering would be greatly reduced. A peppered fish in a planted tank will always look darker.

Depending on what you are feeding him will change the yellow to a golden color. Tetra bits has a red enhancer in it.

Change your back ground to a lighter color or paint your tank light. This will help with the peppering.

thanks for all your help, i do have him in a planted tank, and i have been feeding some omega one super color so that might make him darker also.
