Hi all,
I woke up this morning to see my RSG has a scrape on the side of him. It looks like he might have got it from running into one of my rocks. Is there anything I should do to help it from getting infected or to help it heal faster? Thanks!

Fish tend to heal very quickly when it comes to scrapes, cuts and minor tissue damage.

Keep the water clean, perhaps add some salt to the water to stimulate the slime coat and he should heal soon.

For something minor like this, 1 tbs/10 gal should be fine. Keep an eye on it just in case a secondary infection gets started. An illustration of the primary problem with rocks as decoration IMO.

Melafix should be good. It will heal faster. But if you keep your daily WC's, I don't think it's necessary, unless you want "faster."

Are you sure it wasn't scratching against the rock?

For a severe case biobandage works well. I have not used it on a discus but have used it successfully to treat a heater burn on my ray.
