How long did you keep your Discus

I'm looking to known an average on what is the longuest time a member on this forum has been keeping is fish.

Sorry I can't correct the vote but :

first choice but it's 1 YEAR OR LESS
last choice is 10 YEARS OR MORE

Is the last choice ten years or longer? I have lots of fish reach 10-12 and even one 15 years. You should get 6-8 years out of any healthy fish.

LOL, I don't know how long I can keep them for but my first discus is about 2-3 years now :). Yep, I think that's right since it says I joined the forum in Dec of 2004 and I remember that I joined when a young Sampson ate too much and had bloat and I found this site and epsom salt! LOL!

LOL, I've been keeping discus since 1978. Some just live longer if taken proper care of. I've killed my share of young ones too! I still have a Cynotilapia frontosa that's almost 19 years old and I kept a Corydoras Julii for almost 30 years, got him when I was a kid and he died when I was 36. Ken

My oldest was a 13+ years German Brilliant Blue many between 10 and 12 but will be interesting to see how the new designer discus hold up,wow 30 years for a Julii amazing !

I have a Marlboro Red pair that are 9-10 years old. I am no longer spawning them but gave them to a friend to learn with small spawns.

I had a MR male for 9 years when I traded him. He, too, was still spawning.

I had a PB 10 yrs. He died when the 3 hurricanes hit us. I don't know how long he would have made it if not for the storms. Didn't like the noise from the generator.

Until now nobody in 7 and 8 years. I known it's nothing scientific but let's assume that after five years if you don't throw everything your are good for another 5 :p
