Hi all,this may be a stupid question but here it goes is there a difference between a red rio purus and a red turq. are they the same fish just differt people call it different names.I got one from a pet store,who gets there stock from macs discus,so i checked there web site they call it a red rio purus?
any input would be great

Even though they are probably the same fish(turquoise base),breeder's tend to come up with exotic names just to attract attention.For example Red turq,Red marble,Red maze,Red purus,Super red turq,Royal reds.All are a few examples of a reddish hue body fish with blue striations.To me it can get quite confusing.Look at all the different names of spotted snakeskins.

It may have been selectively captively bred Rio Purus. ie F0 x self. But looking from the picture, it is unlikely. Probably just the way the breeder named it.

Or it could just be a royal blue from the Rio Purus.
