I cant help it! This guy is just so awesome! I cant get over how big he is! I bet he couldn't even fit in the palm of my hand! He is already so comfortable with me! The minute he sees me he comes right over! Swimming all around that tiny tank! :( Thank goodness its only QT! Those rams sure move out of his way quick LOL

That clinches it. I'm going wild!

I've been looking at a bunch of domestic breeds for 9 mos. and have had my sights on at least a dozen different ones from BD's to SS to Leopards. The last month or two I have been wowed by all the wilds I've seen here at Simply. More and more I've been thinking about getting wild Discus instead of human bred ones and I think your fish just made up my mind for me.

That's a beautiful fish.

I hear ya! I too share the same delight with mine. The moment they see me coming near the tank, all of them swim up to the top just waiting feverishly for their treats. ;) I know the feeling all too well. I look forward to it always.

Congratulations again, Amber, on your new acquisition. That wild Green Tefe is surely a handsome one! :thumbsup: {Note: keep tab on those small teenie-weenie fishies you have with him, or you may wind up with none! But then again, I had some rams in the tank and the big discus never picked on them, it was those juvies I had at the time. Now they're big adults.}

Sleonard.. I have both wilds and domestic. I like them all! Glad my guy was able to help you make a decision!

Angie.. They are in QT and will be going to seperate tanks. There are 6 juvie celebes rainbows in with that moster. I was worried the first night that he might make a midnight snack out of a few because they can DEFINITELY fit in his mouth.. but he hasn't even given them a second glance.

I only just moved the rams in there last night. They were in my 10 gallon QT in my office here. Its a very quiet room, but the tank is on the right, right when you come thru the door and they were getting startled and they didn't look very happy AT ALL in this tank so since they came from the same place as that discus, I decided to move them in with him last night. Man did they perk right up! They dont seem to be bothering eachother at all. Once in a while the discus will swim straight at them, but they get out of his way quick lmao. The rams and discus will be going into my 125 when QT is over and the celebes rainbows will be going into my 55 rainbow tanks which already houses 6 madagascars.

Awesome Green Tefe. I was considering them too. Your post just answered my question, I was wondering if you always kept fish in your QT tank. I guess it was just temporary. Would it be a good idea to always keep something in your QT tank to help with feed the bacteria??

Great fish looking healty :) make's me regret the one I lost. They are moving so gracefully and the skin was looking so good. Here in Montreal the LFS sold them for 100$/ea and if it's not personnal how much do you pay for?

Enjoy :)

WOW Amazon! The lfs I go to does not ever charge more than 40 dollars for their Wilds. Domestics is another story.. but two of my wilds I got there for 18 dollars! This one cost me only 40.

Marie.. Pancake JR is good. So everyone knows... Pancake was named after one of Marie's fish :)

You can feed the bacteria with straight ammonia as long as you a w/c right before adding new fish to cut down on the nitrates. This is what I do for tanks that don't have fish in them.
