I've been thinking alot about lights lately, checking out Ebay and AHsupply. I can't think which would be better bang for the buck. I don't need a high wattage for my tank, its a 150, 30 in. deep, just want to keep moderate light plants and the discus. Any thoughts on the matter? C'mon, educate me!

they do sell retro fits ice caps for tube lights but they are EXPENSIVE!!

If you don't really worry about having light reflectors and all that, you'll be just fine going to h'dept or lowed and buy the ballasts yourself. I did that with my tank, it's 100 G, 23" deep.

I bought two 24" ballasts with two strips each. I am running one blue and one white light on each side of my canopy.

Ballasts are around 20 bucks per piece, you need to buy toggle on/off switches, two sets of lamp wire w/ plug, that'll run around 5 bucks, and some washers to mount your on/off toggle switch. Or you can buy the lamp cord that has the side switch on it.
